NOAHousing Shelter2Home Initiative Program is strategically designed to provide essential follow-up services to clients, facilitating the timely completion of their annual recertification for rental subsidy vouchers and human resources benefits. By offering this critical support, we assist tenants in mitigating the risk of losing their subsidy vouchers and prevent disruptions in landlord payments due to tenants’ failure to recertify. These services play a vital role in breaking the cycle of individuals repeatedly returning to the shelter system.
In addition, we offer educational resources to the public on navigating the challenges of securing affordable housing. NOAHousing aids individuals in completing applications, arranging viewings with realtors or landlords, and ultimately securing suitable rental accommodations. This assistance not only helps individuals avoid being transferred from one shelter to another but also contributes to reducing prolonged stays in shelters.
The program includes workshops focused on financial and credit literacy, as well as referrals to essential resources such as food, clothing, shelter, supportive housing, free technology access, and career development opportunities. Through the delivery of these services, we aim to empower individuals to achieve self-sustainability, advance their careers, and enhance their earning potential, ultimately enabling them to break free from the cycle of poverty.
The Neighborhood Outreach & Affordable Housing Corporation collaborates with shelters and other housing agencies to support clients in their search for affordable rentals through our Shelter2Home and NOAHousing Rebuild Community initiatives. NOAHousing remains dedicated to providing referrals to temporary emergency shelter for those experiencing homelessness, ensuring access to a secure and respectful environment during challenging times.
The NOAHousing Shelter2Home Initiative Program offers essential follow-up services to clients, particularly those receiving rental subsidy vouchers or human resources benefits, to assist them in completing their annual recertification in a timely manner. This support is crucial in ensuring that tenants do not risk losing their housing or benefits. Furthermore, NOAHousing collaborates with the Department of Human Services (DHS), nonprofit agencies, and landlords to facilitate a seamless transition for clients into their new apartments, securing a ‘Home Sweet Home’ for them.
